Who is Schaeffer?
Schaeffer moved with his family to Fairbanks when he was sixteen so that his father, a Baptist preacher, could pastor a church in town. Schaeffer immediately fell in love with Alaska. He loved the people, the freedom, the wilderness. A bold spirit and can-do attitude propelled him into every adventure he could find: hunting

, fishing, trapping, rock and ice climbing. He spent a winter alone in a cabin in the Yukon Flats and has led three successful expeditions to the top of Mt. McKinley. These experiences have utilized his leadership skills and problem-solving abilities as well as proved his tenacity and perseverance.
Schaeffer graduated from high school two years early and went to work commercial fishing. Having grown up in a family business, he had already learned the rewards of hard work, imagination, and treating people well. Still, it was very difficult work that required perseverance. The forbearance he developed during those years shines through as he deals with difficult situations and difficult people.

e to Fairbanks at eighteen to study business and finance. In short order, he decided he would rather do business than study it. Economic principals and sound business sense had been instilled in Schaeffer as a young boy. After completing a summer of apprenticeship in the construction field, he then started his own company which has been very successful. During that time, he met and fell in love with his wife Marti. They eloped to Maui and since then have built a life together.
Schaeffer has always had a keen interest in business and finance as well as geopolitical economics. Skill and interest in those areas have served him well in business and drawn him towards politics. He always had a close eye on the legislature and has, for several years, been moving towards that goal. He is at the point in life now where he can afford to sacrifice the time and finances to serve in Juneau. Schaeffer truly cares about people and believes the state house is where he can do the most good for the most people. He asks for your participation in this worthy cause, financially and with your vote.
